Ron Melton
Operations Manager
Hi-Speed Industrial Service

I think if you’re not learning, then you’re not growing. So, I try to learn something new every day.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ron serves as Operations Manager for Hi-Speed Industrial Service’s Memphis motor repair division. In this role, he is responsible for leading the company’s operational efficiency with an emphasis on positively impacting the team’s performance through workforce oversight and policy enforcement. He is responsible for the development and execution of Hi-Speed’s operational initiatives, all in an effort to keep its valued customers up and running. In addition, he has a passion for employee development, and coaching. Fortunately, his role includes engaging, supporting and mentoring his fellow team members.

PREVIOUS EXPERTISE
An industry veteran, Ron has 40+ years of experience in electromechanical equipment service, repair and sales, the vast majority of which was spent with Flanders Electric. There, he held a variety of roles including motor mechanic, winder assistant, foreman, field service technician, field service supervisor, dragline coordinator, account manager, and, ultimately, operations manager. When Flanders was sold to a private equity group, Ron took the opportunity to join the Hi-Speed family in September of 2023. His vast experience helps him immensely in his ability to both oversee and support his team.

EDUCATION AND INDUSTRY INVOLVEMENT
With 42 years of experience, Ron has done, seen or overseen nearly every role in the operations realm. In addition, he has regularly participated in various technical certifications and trainings including Electrical Apparatus Service Association (EASA) courses on topics ranging from bearing issues to root cause failure analysis.

WHAT SETS HIM APART
Ron loves learning and helping others learn. He notes, “If you’re not learning, then you’re not growing. So, I try to learn something new every day.” He also believes in sharing his knowledge with others. “Transferring this knowledge to the next generation is critical,” he notes. “The type of work we do is a very special niche and there are not a lot of people doing this, so it is very important that we share this information with each other.” A career highlight for Ron came when he got the opportunity to spend five years in Australia managing the setup of a service repair facility in Mackay and Brisbane Queensland. “I got to do everything from overseeing hiring and purchasing to assisting the sales, field service and engineering teams,” he says. “It was a challenging and rewarding experience.”
